Hadley & Grace by @SuzanneRedfearn

By Pamelascott

Needing to escape her abusive marriage, Hadley flees with her two kids, knowing it might be her only chance. A woman who can't even kill a spider, Hadley soon finds herself pushed to the limits as she fights to protect her family.

Grace, new mother of baby Miles, desperately wants to put her rough past behind her for good, but she finds it impossible when her path crosses with Hadley's, and her quest for a new start quickly spirals out of control and turns into a terrifying flight for survival.

Stronger together than apart, the two find their fates inextricably entwined, and as the danger closes in, each must decide how much she is willing to risk for the other.

I'm a huge fan of Thelma & Louise so I really wanted to read this book when I found out it had been inspired by the author's love of the film. The book shares a lot in common with the movie such as two women, unwitting fugitives on the run, female friendship and, of course, guns. The movie is a bit aged though and some of the themes are almost laughable now, so the book goes in a different direction most of the time. Hadley & Grace are great characters, very different from each other and I sort of loved then. I liked how the POV character for the chapters alternate between them both with the odd chapter from the FBI agent pursuing them. I liked getting different viewpoints on what was happening. This is a terrific read.
