Gyaros is Back! First Taste of Book Two!

By Rohan @rohanforsale

Hi guys! A lot is happening right now in the world of Gyaros! Alex and I have written approximately 20% of Book Two, Fortune Favours The Brave, we are working on paper back versions of Books Zero and One, plus we created a Facebook page dedicated to the Gyaros Series!

And so it with great pleasure that I present a little teaser today for Book Two. What you will read below is the short prologue at the very beginning of Book Two. Unlike Book One, which was a very straight narrative focusing on a single story told in close, chronological order, Book Two will span over 100 years thanks to the letters and journal entries between each chapter! As well as this, snappy Codex entries dotted throughout the book will help fill you in on the important historical events, characters and technologies of Gyaros so readers never feel lost.

We are also creating a free companion book to the Gyaros series featuring a full Codex detailing the events, history, locations, characters and technologies of Gyaros as well as faction logos, maps and more! This will be released around the same time as Book Two.

Whether you are already a fan of Gyaros or are new to the series please go ahead, check out and like our new Facebook page here:

And now I present the brand new material, the first ever look at Book Two. This prologue is spoiler free so don’t worry if you haven’t read Book One, this won’t ruin anything for you Please enjoy and as always I’d love to hear your thoughts! Personal message to Amelia

My dearest Amelia, I’ve done it! I’ve actually done it! I’ve managed to obtain Talos funding for my studies. Not to their knowledge of course, the damn idiots wouldn’t spend a talon on my research. However, they have no objection to funding an ore mining operation in aid of their war effort on Medea.

I’ve convinced them that the area surrounding Hawkridge is rich with minerals (which I suppose it is, to some extent) and they gladly offered me a sizable mining grant. They’ve provided me with a small mining crew, tools, transportation and everything else I’ll need. It appears they see this “simple mining operation” as an opportunity to further humiliate the family. How very wrong they are. As you know, grandfather believed that there is a natural substance somewhere on Gyaros that can be harnessed and used in many instances as a highly efficient substitute for chimerium. Unfortunately neither he nor I know exactly how to find it, or indeed what this substance even is! His very limited research on the matter mentioned Hawkridge a number of times so I believe that town to be my best shot.

I know what I’m doing is dangerous and I hope you will forgive me, I’ll try my best to keep up the guise of a mining operation for as long as possible but my true intentions are bound to be discovered eventually. Even so, I must do this, and I know you understand. I’m sure you’ve been keeping up with the news, this war isn’t looking good for Talos and as much as I’d love to see the bastards crumble, if Talos perish, Gyaros follows. Without shipments of chimerium from Medea, this moon will die a slow and painful death. However if what grandfather believes is true, I may just be able to prevent that.

I leave with the mining crew tomorrow morning and, quite frankly, I’m looking forward to the journey; the peace and fresh air of a small town like Hawkridge will be a welcome change from the poisonous, polluted streets of New Fortune. You must by now realize that this means I will not see you again before I depart in the early hours. It breaks my heart as much as I’m sure it does yours to leave like this Amelia. To be so far from your warm embrace, the gentle tickling of your soft breath on my neck. I’ll always miss stroking your hair as you lay half asleep on my lap under the willows on father’s estate when we were only children. I will remember those days forever, they will provide me with the strength required to complete grandfather’s research.

The people I will be working with seem decent as well, I’ve only met them briefly but they strike me as hard workers and quite friendly in general. They are not the sort of people we are accustomed to engaging with; they are loud and raucous and none too discreet when it comes to bodily functions. However there is something genuine about them, they are simple but not stupid and despite being of meager means they are never slow to share what little they have. A welcome change from the psychotic, cutthroat world of politics and academia.

Please try not to worry about me Amelia, do not cry for me. You must remain strong and keep yourself safe. If I fail – if my true intentions are discovered – Talos will show no mercy and it will be up to you to protect our son. But if I succeed, honor and dignity may finally be restored to the Wilhelm name.

Love, always. Sebastian.
