London club West Ham United are interested in the services of Guti for next season. West Ham, who are now back in top flight football are on the lookout for a few summer signings to cement their place in the Premier League.
Apparently Sam Allardyce, West Ham’s manager has agreed to take the ex Real Madrid and Besitkas midfielder on tour to Austria and will sign for the Hammers on a two year deal pending the outcome of a medical. If the 35 year old comes through ok then a deal will be chaired.
Maybe Guti’s party days are finally over or they may be just getting under way – who knows? I think he has something to bring to the table at Upton Park and no doubt Big Sam Allardyce would be looking to the Spaniard to provide experience for his younger players.
Allardyce was also interested in Michael Owen from Manchester United, who is also an experienced player but it looks like Stoke City might end up the more likely destination for the forward.
Barry O’Connor, who looks after the player’s affairs in England had this to say about Guti:
“West Ham will make a final decision before the next season starts. I cannot discuss what terms could be offered.”
It does seem a bit strange Guti going to London’s East End but who knows, he might find his place there and help the Hammers off to a cracking start next season.
