Guest Blogger: Vegan Journeygurl – 5 Ways to Detox Your Body

By Veganbloggersunite @veganblogsunite

Yes! Another new vegan blogger joins the VBU! family. Please welcome Cassandra in her own words, “My name is Cassandra but I call myself the Vegan Journeygurl because my purpose for originally going vegan in Feb. of 2011 was for weight loss. After being on this journey for a while I found that my asthma wasn’t as bad, almost disappearing within 6 months. I also noticed my sleeping patterns and my energy had improved. My weight loss continues but now I feel a passion for food. Fresh clean plants. I never really had an interest in beef but I never knew letting all meat and dairy products go would have brought such a completeness to my life. I believe my passion while on my own weight loss journey is sharing how amazing vegan food is with the world. I hope to continue on this path for decades.”

Please follow Cassandra on her blog, YouTube and Twitter. Welcome Cassandra!

So you’re ready to get into the swing of detoxing. That’s great! I never feel as good as when I give my body a break and let the natural detoxifying components of the human body do it’s thing. When you begin the process of detoxing on a regular basis, you will find you have better sleeping patterns, skin improvements, you will feel lighter, increased energy, etc. This list could literally go on and on. So if you’re ready, here are my 5 ways to begin and succeed on a detox:

Drink Lots of Water

Get creative with your water options. Cucumber in water makes for a refreshing treat. Lemon also adds a great flavor while providing a boost of Vitamin C. Grab a pitcher of fresh clean cold water and add half cucumber slices and lemon slices with a sprig of mint and let sit in fridge overnight. You’ll thank me later.

Load up on Fruits and Veggies

This is one thing about detoxing that most find difficult. I found it amazingly satisfying and it allowed me to truly taste the flavors of my foods without interference. Snack on juicy fruits that contain lots of water or juice that will also satisfy your sweet tooth.

Take time to Meditate

There is nothing like having a purpose. Connecting to your purpose, or remaining focused on your purpose is not always easy. It is important to take time at the top of your day, or as your day is closing to stop and reflect on your progress, fears, triumphs, intentions and accomplishments.

Get up and Move!

Sweat assists in the body’s natural detoxification process. A walk, or run will only do you good!

Become a Smoothie Bandit

This is , in my opinion, a lifesaver in the detox journey. A clean nutrient rich smoothie once or twice a day satisfies the body’s hunger signals, accounts for the nutrients you aren’t getting and just tastes so good. Really good. A really good detox smoothie for me, trying to maintain being “vegan on a budget” water 2 frozen bananas in water with cinnamon. How can something so simple be so good? It came from nature, and nature is sweet!
