Along with hosting the Hollister Airshow, the Hollister Municipal Airport is also a working Cal Fire air attack base. Among the Cal Fire air assets are 23 Grumman S-2T 1,200 gallon air-tankers, such as this one returning for another load of fire retardant. At the turn of the century, these upgraded turbine powered S-2 aircraft replaced older S-2A Trackers that had been in service since 1974. First flown in 1952, the S-2 was in naval service for nations worldwide, only Argentina and Brazil still operate them. Cal Fire has aircraft stationed at 13 air attack and ten helitack bases located statewide. Nikon D500 w/80-400mm.
