Arriving at the tail-end of summer, Chicago house legend Curtis Jones aka Green Velvet serves up a quaking monster. ‘Bigger Than Prince’ has a distinctly late 90s house vibe and wields some dirty distorted synths that in the wrong hands could come off as naff electro-house. The ground-shaking growl enters every other bar with a menacing snarl, whilst the sleazy vocal “Walk around like you’re bigger than Prince” adds a bit of swagger.
Hot Since 82 turns it into predictable Hot Creations fare, pitching the vocal right down and providing a pulsing tech-house makeover. The Martinez Brothers are a little more adventurous, offering a tribal excursion complete with lush tropical atmospherics.
