Great Gift for the Artistic Kid: Draw Plus Science!

My son, Austen, loves to draw. He’s always picking up a pencil to draw an animal, cartoon character, or item from nature. So, he was very excited to receive the book, Draw Plus Science: Enhance Science Learning Through Art Activities, by Freddie Levin! I love how this book teaches both science concepts and drawing techniques. For example, on the Life Cycle page, children are taught that a life cycle “is all the stages of the life of an organism,” and then they are shown how to draw a frog in its various stages, from egg to tadpole to frog! Another section covers different animal environments, such as the desert, and then teaches how to draw animals from that area, such as a lizard, sheep, and bird.
My son has drawn several pictures from the book already, but one of his best was from the pages about endangered species. As you can see below, this section tells what it means to be an endangered animal and how this happens. And then kids are introduced to the dhole, an endangered wild dog from Southern Asia. The last page below, on the right, shows my son’s drawing from looking at the pages in Draw Plus Science. I think he did a great job!
If you’re looking for a great gift for the little artist in your life, especially if he or she loves nature, animals or science, pick up Draw Plus Science, by Freddie Levin! This 64-page book contains more than 200 drawings, and is a bargain for the months of fun and learning your child will have!
