Grand Princess Resort & Spa Riviera Maya ( Mexico)

By Tejal Hewitt @Tejal_x

Our summer holiday this year was at the Grand Princess Resort & Spa Riviera Maya *****

Beautiful turquoise sea and super sandy beaches. The sea temperature was between 29-32c and amazingly warm!

Some meals & cocktails we enjoyed!

A few excursions – Xel Ha, Chichen Itza and Cenote (sinkhole natural spring water)

Most days we always came back to the room with a new creation! Kids loved it!

Some of the different types creatures we saw up and close! Yes the middles one is a crocodile ( but he lived in an enclosure near the beach with some turtles

I do enjoy taking flower pictures – so here a few!

A Few picture from around the resort

Now the Nitty gritty!

The Good:

  • Large resort ( 3 hotels) with 12 pools ( 8 adults & 4 kids)
  • Lovely Pools
  • Good day time entertainment at the main pool ( where we spent most of our time)
  • Clean ( workers are always cleaning and polishing)
  • Rooms are a good size with plenty of room ( even for a family of 4)
  • Friendly staff
  • Good choice of drink including international drinks
  • vegetarian options were either very good or very bad!
  • Good maid service
  • 9 Al a cart restaurants and 2 buffets
  • If you tell concierge day before restaurant booking they will make a small birthday cake ( which is very good!)

The Bad:

  • Reception customer service ( if your key card stops working you have to walk 10-15mins to reception and walk back to your room)
  • You could only book the al a cart restaurants 3 days in advance – and very busy
  • vegetarian labelling were not always clear or correct
  • vegetarian options were either very good or very bad!
  • Mini bar has to requested for re-fill
  • Our kids ended up calling us from kids club to be picked up as they were bored
  • Rooms A/C had issues – we could not get our above 19.8c but my cousin couldn’t get theirs below 23c!
  • A lot of seaweed at the beach, however workers were clearing it up daily
  • Reception can get very busy, specially during check in
