- Use hyphens in compound adjectives if they come before the noun they describe. You would write, “We’re using up-to-date technology,” or “The technology is up to date,” but not “The technology is up-to-date.”
- Never use an apostrophe with years. “I grew up in the 1990′s” is incorrect; instead, write “I grew up in the 1990s.”
