- Bring shows movement toward a speaker; take shows movement away from a speaker. So, I would ask you to bring a package to me, or take it to a person downstairs, but I wouldn’t ask you to bring it to the person downstairs.
- Don’t start a sentence with a numeral. Instead of writing, “12,477 fans attended the game,” write, “There were 12,447 fans at the game.” There is one exception. You can start a sentence with a numeral if you’re identifying a calendar year. So, “2010 was the year General Motors discontinued the Pontiac brand.”
