The end of June marks the beginning of graduation celebrations, and today I’ve got the most festive invitations for a graduation party! My client had best idea for her grad invites, not just a diploma, but one rolled and presented like the real thing!
You’ll Need
- Gold Embroidery Floss {1 piece makes 2 tassels}
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Needle
While keeping the embroidery floss skein in one piece, remove a 36″ string and divide it into two – 18 ” pieces. Cut the skein floss in half, keeping the label wrappers still on.
Take one of the 18″ strings, and fold in half. Make a loop about 1″ down from the center to create the loop at the top of your finished tassel. Adjust the loop before knotting, so that one of the strings is the same length as the tassel strings, while the other hangs longer. {For a pair of tassel earrings you’ll want to make the loop smaller, and the knot higher up}
Bring one of the cut embroidery floss halves together and tie them tightly in the center of its fold with a triple knot. Let the ends of the tying piece merge into the rest. Trim the longer piece of string.
Use the cut piece of string and loop it about 3/4″ down the tassel, and knot tightly. Wrap strings around front once or twice, then knot three times tightly.
Using a needle, string the knot strands through the center of the tassel to hide. Trim the tails of your tassel evenly, and that’s it!
