The Goya Awards 2012 took place on Sunday evening and the great winner with 6 awards was the film “No habrá paz para los malvados”  with the main actor José Coronado winning a Goya for best actor.

The Goya awards this year were in charge of Eva Hache who took over from Andreu Buenafuente for this edition and there has been mixed reviews in the Spanish press about her performance.

It has also been said that there was a drop in audience share but still managed to be the most viewed show on TV on Sunday, however.

Other news was that there was a security breach and a few characters with “anonymous” mask managed to get in a cause a disturbance. One managed to get on stage while three others were stopped by security guards. It all happened while Isabel Coixet was receiving a Goya for best documentary.

So the great winner of the evening came as no surprise and was the film No habrá paz para los malvados starring José Coronado and which was directed by Enrique Urbizu.

Other notable winners were Elena Anaya who picked up the best actress award for her role in “La piel que habito” which also starred Antonio Banderas and was directed by the great Pedro Almodóvar.

Goyas for best supporting actors and actresses went to  Lluís Homar and Ana Wagener for their roles in “Eva” and “La voz dormida” . The Goyas for  best new actors and actresses “actor y actriz revelación” went to Jan Cornet and María León for their parts in La piel que habito and La voz dormida respectively.

The Goyas tie in nicely with the English BAFTA Awards and the Berlinale in Berlin. They serve as a kind of “warm up” for the Oscars that are just around the corner.
