Gotta Love Some Greasy Love ...

It's been a fair amount of time since we last spoke of Findlay. Their angry and, almost savage, outlook on music was something that intrigued us ... despite the fact that it was so obvious that plenty of talent was about the place. Their new single, Greasy Love, furthers the idea that these guys are brilliant, and that, we're sure, they're on the outlook for big, brilliant things.
It's as distorted as ever in both vocal and musicality, though, we wouldn't suggest that it's quite as raw as when we wrote of them before. The production side of things has quite obviously had a little cash injection and, whilst a lot of the time we'd suggest that this ruins things, they've managed to make it work in their favour and, this outlandishly catchy track really takes off.
There are likenesses to Karen O here in Natalie's voice, with the shrieks and shouts that we've become fond of. Although, we'd still suggest that there are comparisons to Florence Welch to be made here ... it's just that Natalie, like Flo, is so free, so vacant, and so capable of using that booming voice to get her point well and truly across.
As we suggested, there is still a lot of distortion around this one and, whilst there is still going to be a minority that just can't deal with it, we don't see why this couldn't be the next big thing in the Indie/Rock industry ... it's wonderfully catchy, vigorously impulsive, absolutely infectious and, quite simply, fantastic.
It won't come as a shock then, that we feel that it is only a matter of time until Findlay become huge. We're, as ever, really looking forward to hearing more and, like with this in comparison to last time, awaiting even more progress in their incredible repertoire.
