The end has come for 2020, a difficult year that we sadly don't have to see, and 2021 is now on the clock. In its traditional New Years style, Google created an animated doodle to mark the final minutes of our old year and a subsequent doodle to welcome the new year 2021. Google usually ushers in the new year with an animated animal. It was like that a year ago chose the familiar FroggyPerhaps the search giant's weatherman to greet 2020. Maybe Google actually looked to the future back then, knowing that 2020 would be a toad of a year.

So maybe it's no surprise that Google has decided to return to the feathered friends of the past few years. If you checked in before midnight during the festivities, it shouldn't have been a mystery what to expect with Google's watch, which was all closed but bouncing with anticipation. You'd have to be a cuckoo to miss it.
Google even pointed it out how crazy 2020 was"It's been a cuckoo year," but it's also optimistic for a better year for all of us. "The countdown starts now and when the clock strikes midnight, a new year will spread its wings!" Google said when introducing its party host.
And when the New Year's doodle landed on Google's search page, the tech titan and his winged envoy expanded their exuberant wishes. "'Happy New Year,' chirps the cuckoo bird for everyone to hear!"

While we celebrate surviving yet another voyage around the sun, it's also important to survive well into the year ahead. In the past few years this has meant not drinking and driving. While that's still paramount, it's also important to remember that this year's challenges won't go away with the change in the calendar. Stay close to the nest with your core herd, but please remember to wear a mask if you do need to be on your way.
