Google Recently, by combining DeepMind and Google Brain, a large AI team has been formed New Google DeepMind. Google DeepMind has shared a new detail for YouTube shorts. The team describes how one of their Visual Language Models (VLMs) can be used to generate descriptions for YouTube Shorts. This means that creators no longer have to put in as much effort to add a good description for YouTube shorts. Come, read below to know in detail.

New feature of YouTube Shorts

Deepmind has shared the information by posting a post from its official Twitter account. It is written in the post that YouTube Shorts are made in a few minutes and often do not include descriptions and titles. To help generate descriptions to make the job of creators easier, the team is introducing Flamingo, their visual language model.

It is written in the tweet that their powerful visual language model Flamingo is changing the way you watch YouTube Shorts. It automatically generates descriptions for hundreds of millions of videos in their metadata, making them more searchable.

What would be the benefit?

As The Verge recently reported, Colin Murdoch, chief business officer of Google DeepMind, says it solves a real problem. Creators sometimes don’t add metadata, as the process of creating a video is more streamlined than a long-form video.

Todd Sherman, director of product management for Shorts, has said that because Shorts are mostly watched on a feed, people are swiping to the next video instead of actively browsing for them. There isn’t as much incentive to add metadata. This flamingo model helps to understand these videos and provides descriptive text.
