Juno-Award-winning folk trio, Good Lovelies are in the Christmas spirit with the release of their new holiday album, Evergreen, and their 2019 Christmas Tour schedule!
Kerri Ough, Caroline Brooks, and Sue Passmore have a history of touring through the holiday season, putting on Christmas shows in big cities and small towns as the snow falls, and the season gets merry and bright. And this year will be no different with 14 concerts between December 5 in Sudbury and December 22 in Port Hope.
On Evergreen, the Good Lovelies also continue a tradition of harmonies and good vibes that seem to emanate from the speakers. It's the first Christmas album that got played in my condo this year, and I have no regrets. In social media posts leading up to the release, the band was offering an advanced listen to their cover of The Beach Boys' Little Saint Nick with pre-orders. And ya, that was a great choice, because listening to that song is a lot of fun and definitely makes me want to keep listening.
If you asked me for a favourite song on the album, I'd tell you that I'm a sucker for the traditional Christmas hymns I've known my whole life and that the version of O Holy Night that the Good Lovelies have included on Evergreen is indeed, lovely. Silver Bells has also always been on my list of favourites, and hearing it at the end of the album is a great way to close out Evergreen.
The Good Lovelies Christmas Tour kicks off on Thursday, December 5 in Sudbury. From there the band will play in churches and theatres and concert halls until three days before Christmas. And it appears that tickets are moving quickly, with the December 11 show in Midland already showing as sold out on their website. We've never covered a Good Lovelies Christmas tour, but we can tell you that they are super talented and entertaining when they play live.
