Golden Valley's Prestigious Tryrol Hills... Hilly, Pastoral Neighborhood Only 10 Minutes to Downtown Minneapolis

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

If you are looking for a charming neighborhood of hilly, winding streets with mature trees and large lots close to trails, parks, golf, cross-country skiing... all within 10 minutes of downtown Minneapolis near some of the best schools in the metro area... be sure to check out Golden Valley's prestigious Tyrol Hills.

Although there are a few homes in the area built in the early 1900s, most were built in the 1940s and 1950s and include a wide variety of styles, many of them architect-designed originals ranging from grand Tudors to mid-century moderns.

It's hard to find a more convenient location... close to major freeways AND the largest Minneapolis city park. Theodore Wirth Park is close in size to New York City's Central Park and includes lakes, golf, cross-county skiing, a 3700-year-old quaking bog, a bird sanctuary... and is part of the 50-mile Minneapolis Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway.

The area was developed before I-394 became a major freeway into the city and sharply divided the North and South Tyrol neighborhoods. If you look at legal descriptions, Tyrol Hills officially only extends as far north as Glenwood Avenue... however, most people consider the neighborhood goes north all the way to Highway 55, and some consider it also originally extended into the hills just west of Highway 100.

Tyrol Hills is also known for some of the best schools in the metro area... Hopkins public schools and Meadowbrook Elementary, one of the best in the district... as well as nearby private schools Breck and Benilde-St. Margaret's.

Check out Tyrol Hills Golden Valley homes for sale, as well as homes for sale in the surrounding area. Average price of homes for sale in the area over the last year was $421,651.
