We're pleased to announce that the 1st Honorable Mention for the Goedeker's Annual Public Service Scholarship recipient is Rachel Randall!
Rachel's parents both have a background in teaching, which has inspired her
to follow them by studying early childhood education and family studies at Hope
International University.
From Rachel's essay: My parents taught me through their lives to care about
others and along the way, I have had many adventures! My mother is an
elementary teacher turned stay-at-home mom. My father chose his profession and
the schools he works in because of his concern for others, not the amount of
money he would be paid. He has spent most of the past 27 years of teaching
working with elementary, middle, and high school students in inner-city,
low-income, and at-risk areas. While my father taught middle schoolers, my
whole family was involved in helping with new churches, after-school clubs, and
many programs that gave aid to people in our community.
We're honored to help Rachel continue her family's legacy of service and wish
her the best during her studies!
