With recent user experience updates, GoDaddy appears to have brought more changes to auction landing pages — specifically closeout auctions.
Much like comps are used in physical real estate to seek the value of a property juxtapose with similar properties, GoDaddy has introduced its own comparable data for domains feature.
I recently discovered the “comparable domains sold data” feature while researching a few closeout domains via GoDaddy Aftermarket.
Not only is this feature displayed via closeout auctions, but it’s visibly displayed via GoDaddy’s Appraisal Tool too.
Although a welcomed feature, I have mixed feelings about accuracy and variability in pricing domains in question and their respective comps.
Of course, one hopes comps will align to market rates over time as more public data of domain sales is made readily available.
But even with more data, how does one make sense of whether presented comparable domains sold data is retail or wholesale pricing?
