Gluten Free Nutella Bread Recipe #glutenfree Almost #dairyfree

By Bewilderedbug @bewilderedbug

"Dear Emelia", I wrote, "I have a little disaster at my house. I have officially run out of Nutella". I pressed send on my What's App and waited. Emelia's Mom wrote back and informed me that my (then) four year old niece told her to instruct me to "...Go to the grocery and get more chocolate". What a sensible little bugger. I laughed and did just that. That was years ago, and it was the first thing that I thought of as I put this gluten free Nutella Bread into the oven to bake because I had officially, again, finished all the Nutella in my house. I didn't tell her this time, though, because five year old wisdom may put me in my place again.

This Nutella bread was attempted for few reasons. Firstly, my attempt at a potato stuffed roti (like my Mama used to make) that was gluten free failed miserably (don't get me wrong - potato encrusted in rice flour dough actually tasted quite good..but was really stodgy and I did not have to eat for 2 days).

Then, I have this friend, Kim, who lives in New York, who insists on making and posting the most incredible chocolate-based bakes you ever did see almost daily on my facebook newsfeed. And I have to at least attempt to Wow her once in a while. This one was a bit of a copycat though - cause she did Nutella bread all the way last year! So the Great British Bake Off and the Breat Bloggers Bake Off, Kim and Emelia have all inspired me to actually buy yeast and attempt Nutella bread.

Technically, this was supposed to be plaited Nutella bread, but because I skipped a step, it is just Nutella bread. And no...that step was not the plaiting process that I forgot, it was one of the chilling steps... and it made a huge difference, so if you're making this - be sure to do ALL the steps. The gluten free dough makes the process a little more tedious time consuming, so read the entire recipe first and plan accordingly.

Yes it is worth it.

And then...challenge yourself to ROLL a gluten free bread dough. It's easy. I promise.....just don't rush it and take your time.

*lol* I promise you that you can do this - just try it

Best fresh from the oven, this dough can be used with any filling really - cinnamon and brown sugar and pesto are all yummy options too!
