(Paris) The pandemic of the new coronavirus has caused at least 496 818 dead in the world since China officially announced the appearance of the disease in December, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Tuesday at 15 h.

More than 10 372 230 cases of infection were officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories since the beginning of the epidemic, of which at least 5 207 900 are today considered cured.
This number of diagnosed cases, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections. Some countries only test severe cases, others use testing as a priority for tracing, and many poor countries have limited screening capacity.
The United States, which recorded its first coronavirus-related death in early February, is the country most affected in terms of number of deaths and cases, with 114 512 death for 2 612 259 case. At least 705 203 people have been declared cured.
After the United States, the most affected countries are Brazil with 58 314 dead for 1 368 195 case, the United Kingdom with 43 730 dead (312 654 case), Italy with 30 767 dead (240 578 case), and France with 29 843 dead (201 208 case).
China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) has officially counted a total of 83 531 case (19 new between Monday and Tuesday), of which 4634 death (0 new), and 78 469 healings.
Europe totaled Tuesday at 15 h 196 987 death for 2 676 496 case, the United States and Canada 135 147 death (2 716 403 case), Latin America and the Caribbean 114 108 death (2 9328 617 case ), Asia 34 418 death (1 280 698 case), the Middle East 15 137 death (756 649 case), Africa 9888 death (396 045 case), and Oceania 126 death (9328 case).
