Forever a fan of a bit of glitz, I thought I would share with you all, some of the glitter/confetti topcoats that I have been loving of late.
I posted a picture on my Instagram (SarahhhhP) yesterday, of how I had painted my nails using the above combination of Essie's 'Summit of Style' from their Luxe Collection and 'Sole Mate'. It was my first attempt at a bit of glitter 'ombre' and I was rather pleased with the results! The Essie glitter polishes are without doubt, the best that I have ever tried as they are super saturated and only require a single coat to achieve 10/10 on the sparkle scale.
Another Essie favorite is 'On a Silver Plater' - a polish with a hint of gold to it, that is masked slightly by the silver flecks it contains. It has holographic violet glitter running throughout and is opaque after two coats - a definite festive fave!
The final two polishes, I like to wear the same way - both layered over a deep blue shade (more often than not, Essie's 'Style Cartel'). OPI's 'Bearest of them All' is a polish I have seen featured in a lot of gift guides this year as it is part of their new limited edition Coca Cola collection and comes with a very cute, miniature polar bear adorned in matching branded red scarf. It is a mix of red confetti flakes and little white hearts, and though not as saturated or easy to apply as the Essie polishes, it still looks stunning after a couple of coats.
Model's Own 'Valerian' is a polish that contains a plethora of different blue tones and textures - from fine glitter to chunkier flakes. It's a little hard to get hold of now, as after I saw it featured on the lovely Helen's blog and decided I had to have it, I went in search but couldn't find it in any of my local Boots/Superdrug stores. Neither could I spot it online on the Model's Own site. However, I did eventually manage to pick it up from the Nail Polish Direct website and noticed that it is also available from Superdrug online. It can be layered up to create a very deep, dark effect which is gorgeous, or alternatively and in order to make things a little easier, it can as I mentioned, be layered over a more opaque navy blue polish to save the faffing - either way it is lovely.
What are some of your favorite nail polishes when you're looking to add a bit of glitz and glam to your manicure?
