Glass Owls‘ “Best of Us” is just the type of alternative love song you’re likely to hear on the soundtrack of the next indie romcom about a young platonic couple. Though at first it comes across as a typical heavyweight power pop song dissolved in a mediocre production of distilled vocals, the Auckland-based band presents a genuine feel-good track with heart-on-sleeve lyrics and a questioning sense of sincerity that grows on you upon every listen. It’s safe to say that the only thing copied from heroes here is a lyric or two about unproductive sleep — and who could possibly have a problem with that?
