Give a Frock Friday

By Heidi @missfinn

I am quite the fan of Hill Tribe neon and this frock from the Valentino pre spring 2014 collection has a very Hill-Tribe vibe going on don’t you think? I’ve seen everything from handbags to shoes in this delightful style lately.

Did you know that Hill Tribe is a term used for various tribes that inhabit the remote border areas of Northern Thailand, Laos and Burma. Out of the many different tribes the one I’m most familiar with is Hmong. While researching more about Hill Tribes I came across Daughters Rising which is a non-profit organisation helping to prevent sex trafficking by empowering at-risk girls through education. I was shocked to learn that the financial empowerment of mothers directly relates to their daughter’s risk of being trafficked. If you would like to find out more, visit Daughters Rising or go to their online store Rise Up Shop where you can purchase beautiful handmade artisanal jewelry and accessories and support their good work.

I’ve never written about a charity before on this blog, and as I said, I came across this one purely by chance. But, after reading about the good work that Daughters Rising is doing, well I have two daughters and I cannot imagine having to sell your own child into trafficking and so I’m inspired to learn more and help where I can.

On that note, I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you are.

love & light xo
