Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until smooth
Stir in the molasses
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and baking soda
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition
Take tablespoonfuls of dough and roll them into balls
Roll the dough balls in the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar until coated
Place the coated dough balls on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the cookies have spread and the tops are cracked
Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
