Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Countdown- Nov 10

Posted on the 10 November 2016 by Frontrowchat @FrontRowChat

Over the course of 7 seasons on Gilmore Girls, we got to see a lot of different aspects of a lot of different characters. But one character who was always shrouded in a bit of mystery was Mrs. Kim (Emily Kuroda).  She was quiet and stern, especially in the beginning, but every once in a while she’d say or do something that seemed completely crazy.  (Plus, don’t even get us started on the mystery that is Mr. Kim… who was mentioned once or twice but never, ever seen.)  We’ve compiled our favorite Mrs. Kim moments below.  Is your favorite on the list? Nov 10- Top 5 Mrs. Kim moments

Sairah- Mrs. Lane speech to Lane about the wedding night (S6E19)

MRS KIM: It concerns the wedding night.
LANE: Oh, boy.
MRS KIM: Yes, “oh, boy.” Marriage is a job, Lane. There are rewards that come with this job, but there are also sacrifices. There are things you’re going to have to do.
LANE: Things?
MRS KIM: Terrible things.
LANE: Mama, you don’t have to…
MRS KIM: You need to hear this, you need to know what to expect. It will start early.
LANE: What will?
MRS KIM: The man’s expectations. It starts early, at the wedding, actually. At the wedding, you’re going to have to kiss him.
LANE: Mama.
MRS KIM: You will then be expected to share a bed tonight and when you’re in that bed you’re expected to…
LANE: Mama, please.
MRS KIM: You’re going to have to do it with this boy, Lane. You’re just going to have to do it. Hopefully if you’re lucky like me, you’ll only have to do it once.

Cassie- Mrs. Kim helps Zach write a song after he tells her he wants to marry Lane (S6E17)

Mrs. Kim always surprised me.  One minute she says she’s never been alone in a room with two men before.  And the next she’s spouting off how many millions of dollars Prince made without swearing in his songs.  She’s a conundrum, and I think that’s why I like her so much.  That, and she finally learns to see Lane for who she really is, instead of who she always thought her daughter should be.

Aubrey- Mrs. Kim tells Lane she didn’t raise a daughter who gives up, and sets up a tour for Lane’s band in 7th Day Adventist churches all over the Eastern seaboard (S5E22)

Hannah- Mrs. Kim freaks out about Lane living with boys. (S4E21)

MRS. KIM: There were boys.
LORELAI: What? Where?
MRS. KIM: At Lane’s — two boys — one with hair.
LORELAI: O-o-okay, you went to Lane’s?
MRS. KIM: And the place — broken furniture and dirt and boys and a broken window and boys —
LORELAI: Slow down.
MRS. KIM: — and a tiny fridge and guitars and boys.
LORELAI: How many boys where there?
MRS. KIM: Two boys.
LORELAI: Two boys.
MRS. KIM: She stood in that room with two boys. I didn’t stand alone in a room with two boys until I was — I’ve never done that.

Lisa- Mrs. Kim helps Lane get prepare for the twins. (S7E16)

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is only 15 short days away, and will premiere on Netflix on Nov 25.
