Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase

Our third of 8 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artists we’ll be featuring, Trinity Bradshaw, comes to us all the way from Calgary Alberta. Since the top 8 were announced we’ve take it upon ourselves to get to know the contestants a bit better, after-all one of them will land a prime single release from Big Machine Label group and, if past competitions are any indication, one or more of them could be the next big thing in Canadian country music. One thing that stands out when it comes to Trinity is her enthusiasm and energy, almost like a firecracker. Perhaps it has something to do with being raised in Prince Edward Island and then moving clear across the country to Calgary at age 14.

Trinity Bradshaw

Success came early for Trinity, she was the youngest winner of the Summerside Festival Talent Search at age 14, in Dec 2011, she was declared winner of SUGAR CRISP ‘s “The first 15” Canadian national songwriting contest, and in January 2013, she won Calgary’s Amp Radio Rock Star. Her success didn’t end there; in March 2013 Trinity was chosen as SOCAN artist of the month performing on the Billy Block show at the MERCY Lounge in Nashville. Trinity was also selected to perform at the 2013 international music conference Musexpo held in Los Angeles. She has since performed at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, the Bluebird in Nashville, and launched her debut EP with a kick-off performance at the Rivoli in Toronto.

Trinity Bradshaw

Her success has spilled over into 2014 as well.  To date she was nominated for Female Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year at the Alberta Country Music Awards and performed at the gala awards show and of course was chosen, from over 200 entries, as one of the top 8 finalists for the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist competition.  The actual competition will be held at Boots and Hearts on August 2, 2014, however fans can vote now to help determine Trinity’s performance slot.  The more votes Trinity has when voting closes the better her performance time is.  If you want to support Trinity you can vote for her here: www.bootsandhearts.com/showcase/.  The winner of the competition will win the opportunity to open for Hunter Hayes on August 3, 2014 on the main stage at Boots and Hearts as well as a single release from Big Machine Label Group and a week of training in Nashville, TN.

Trinity Bradshaw Open Skies

Trinity’s upcoming EP ‘Open Skies’ is set for release on June 17, 2014.

We sent all 8 of the finalists a list of questions to give you the opportunity to get to know them a little bit better and what inspires their music, and some fun stuff too.  Here is our interview with Trinity Bradshaw:

SC: Being selected as a finalist for Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist is a big deal.  One of the 8 of you will perform in front of Hunter Hayes this summer.  Describe the moment you found out you made it? How did they contact you? Where were you? and has it sunken in yet?

TB: My heart skipped a beat … From there the butterflies took over. This is the chance of a lifetime, this could be my break. I was at home at the time … Thank goodness. I was real choked and super excited. I am very thankful!

SC: Every artist I’ve spoken to has a story about how / when they decided to purse music as a career.  Describe the moment that you knew that music was the path for you and what inspired you to take that path.

TB: My parents were very smart people. As soon as they noticed me humming or singing along to my favorite music at 2 years old … They bought me a karaoke a few years later. I can honestly say I was born for this. I’m glad I stuck with it … I love music more than I love anything else.

Trinity Bradshaw

SC: In music today there are a lot of artists working on projects with other artists, for example Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line or Tim Hicks and BlackJack Billy.  If you could write with or perform with any artist on the scene today (from any genre) who would it be?

TB: I would have to say Zac Brown Band. I love everything about them.

SC: As an aspiring Country Music star performing in front of large crowds is pretty much par for the course, what’s the largest crowd you’ve ever performed in front of and what do you do to calm your nerves ahead of the show?

TB: 800 to 1000 people would have to be the biggest crowd I’ve played for. I’m aiming for Madison Square Garden one day, but the Boots and Hearts main stage is a darn good start! I usually just get really excited … I think I would say that I’m pretty good at calming my nerves when they need to be calmed lol.

SC: In any career there comes a moment, sometimes moments, where you know you’re doing something right.  As an entertainer you make a decision to follow that path, can you describe a moment in your career, so far, that made you feel that you are on the right path?

TB: I’ve always felt that I’ve been on the same path … I just love upping the ante. It feels so good to meet a goal… I would say it is somewhat addicting. I wanna go bigger and better as I go on. There have been a few road blocks but I’ve never thought twice about it… This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

SC: What’s your all-time favorite movie?

TB: I don’t usually have one favorite thing … But “Step Brothers” makes me laugh from start to finish. It’s up there with my favourites.

SC: Your ideal brain food?

Fresh fruit for sure!

SC: Favourite Restaurant (anywhere in the world)?

TB: I love Red Lobster! I always get the crab… Every single time actually. I love seafood. {We think Trinity and Brea will become great friends}

SC: Favourite TV show (all-time)?

TB: Prison Break. I was in love with the main character. It was bad… But I’m over it lol. What a great show though!

SC: If you could see any artist in concert, who would you see (living or dead)?

TB: Michael Jackson

SC: iPhone, Android or Blackberry?

TB: iPhone!!

SC: What are your family member’s musical interests and abilities?

TB: My family doesn’t play a lot of instruments and no one had a career in music. We always have karaoke at family reunions though, we are a karaoke family. My grandfather plays a mean harmonica.

SC: In “Trinity Bradshaw, Story of My Life” – The Movie, who would play you?

Hayden Panettiere

TB: Hayden Panettiere … I’ve thought about this before lol. I think too much. {we definitely agree she’d be perfect for the role}

SC: Star Trek or Star Wars?

TB: Neither… Space freaks me out.

SC: Stress management: hit man, spa vacation or Prozac?

TB: Spa!

SC: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Don’t Take No for An Answer

TB: Don’t take no for an answer. The harder you work for what you want, the greater the payout. – Something along those lines.

SC: The music business is one of the most charitable businesses in the world, is there a specific charity that’s close to your heart that you support or would like to see more support for?

TB: The Make a Wish Foundation is the charity that I would definitely give back to … I can’t wait to earn, but give back to everyone else!

SC: In the final few days of voting tell us why country music fans should vote for Trinity Bradshaw?

TB: I’m ready for this. I will work hard to put on the best show of my life when I hit that stage. I really want this, and I am thankful for every single vote that rolls in
