Getting Behind Schedule

After the Bay of Kotor, Lars and I had planned to go to Dubrovnik and then head to Bosnia, preferably as close as possible to Sarajevo.

We didn’t get there…

To be more precise, it was Lars who really really really wanted to see Dubrovnik again. I had never been there, but from what I had heard and read, I found the place to be too touristic (for the blog). But… I simply cannot resist a sweet man like Lars and I gave in. When we arrived in the city, I had decided to take black and white pictures of the Old Town and color pictures of the seaside.

But we never got there… We misinterpreted the instructions of our GPS and we ended up in a very narrow alley, where our car got stuck. completely stuck. We couldn’t go left, right, back, … nothing. I couldn’t get even out of the car. We called the local police and our car insurance.  And then we waited…

After two hours, our car was airlifted out of the alley. That cost us about € 65 and then we literally had to fight against 2 policemen who wanted some money from us too: a bribe of at least € 50. We refused and literally had to escape from Dubrovnik.

It had become dark in the meantime and we were tired. This meant that we didn’t get far in Bosnia. We found a cozy hotel at the seaside, where we had some squid stuffed with cheese and ham around midnight.

And the day afterwards we were finally on the road in Bosnia. These are my first pictures.
