Get Out & About: Week of September 28

By Ohsocynthia @OhSoCynthia
One of the things I love about Dallas, is that you can never be bored - unless you just want to be. From cultural exhibitions to restaurant openings, fashion shows to charity galas. From free events to galas that will cost you a month's salary - Dallas has something for everyone! Here are a few event highlights for the week of September 28, 2015:

Wednesday, September 30
The Essential Energy Speaker Series presents Kim Z. Garrett, retired ex-Facebook Director and author of Roll With It: Living, Working, and Parenting by the Seat of Your Pants.  Kim Garrett's unorthodox upbringing led to a decidedly unusual education–and a unique perspective on privilege, parenting, and empowerment. Self-reliant by necessity and tenacious by nature, Kim became an influential innovator as one of Facebook's directors of national sales, but she didn’t find the foundation for her success in the classroom, she earned it by turning tremendous challenges into positive change. A work-outside-the-home mom until retiring from the history-making social media company in 2011, the Dallas-based author recently reignited her career, signing on as the CEO of Drip That in July 2014. A born-and-bred Texan, Kim has a deep appreciation for all things Southern–biscuits and gravy, sweet iced tea, yellow roses, and the sound of a banjo–and she and her husband of seventeen years are passing on their favorite traditions as the parents of two boys.  No cost. This event will be held at TOOTSIES,8300 Preston Rd #200, Dallas, TX 75225. RSVP to: Christie LeGrand at CLeGrand@fflawoffice.com
