Book Of The Month for April was The Cove by L J Ross. For online Book Clubbers there are some questions below for you to get involved with. Either answer in the comments section or use as discussion points at your next Book Club. If you haven’t read the book check out the Lowdown all about it here.

The Cove – the blurb

Gabrielle Adams has it all – brains, beauty, a handsome fiancé, and a dream job in publishing. Until, one day, everything changes.

The Tube Killer’ takes his victims when they least expect it: standing on the edge of a busy London Underground platform, as they wait for a train to arrive through the murky underground tunnels of London.

Gabrielle soon learns that being a survivor is harder than being a victim, and she struggles to return to her old life. Desperate to break free from the endless nightmares, she snatches up an opportunity to run a tiny bookshop in a picturesque cove in rural Cornwall.

She thinks she’s found the perfect escape, but has she swapped one nightmare for another?

Discussion Points

The following are written with the presumption you have read The Cove. If you haven’t, bookmark the post and come back to answer the questions later.

  1. Working in the publishing world or a book shop is often a bookworms dream. How much did you enjoy reading about this aspect to The Cove?
  2. The first half of the book felt very much like a romance novel. Did you like the shift when the book took a darker turn? Were you surprised it took as long as it did to kick in?
  3. What was it about Tamsyn Bray that caught Gabi’s eye? Would you have believed her suspicions?
  4. The Cove is loosely based upon Kynance Cove in Cornwall. If you haven’t already, Google it. How much can you imagine Gabi stood overlooking the sea? Isn’t it easy to be both beautiful and sinister at the same time?
  5. The book is the first in a series – ‘A Summer Suspense Mystery – where do you think LJ Ross will take it next?
