Genesis 1

By Djrelat7 @djrelat7

Welcome to Day 1 of reading the Bible together. We’re starting from the beginning, if you’re just tuning in. Each week we’ll read a little bit more. The goal is to read the Bible from start to finish. We’re using The Daily Walk Bible NLT (New Living Translation) which you can find on Amazon here.

What we need to know about the book of Genesis 1 & 2 in the Old Testament is the story of Creation. This week we’re reading Genesis 1. There’s one particular phrase I’d like to highlight today that’s in The Daily Walk BIble that reads:

THAT GOD CREATED US FROM DUST IS NO REASON TO TREAT ANOTHER PERSON LIKE DIRT.”

Upon reflection of this highlighted text, I find that I treat strangers sometimes better than I do my loved ones. I don’t know if it goes back to the idea of making a first impression that allows a lot of us to treat people differently. OR if we’re too comfortable with our loved ones that we feel free to react or interact with them differently than we would a stranger.  The conversation might not go as far as to say we treat them like dirt but do we treat them with the same respect like meeting someone for the first time?

For example if I’m in disagreement with a loved one, I might argue my point until I think I’m heard. This might include raising my voice. If I’m not in agreement with a stranger I might just drop it or not even voice my difference of opinion. I might also choose my words to not offend the stranger with my opinion.

Let’s take notice this week of how we interact with our loved ones. Are we treating them like we’d like others to treat us? Are we making our points in a respectful manner?

Here’s Genesis 1:

Until then,
