Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair from Jan. 11 to 13

One of the largest business events post COVID in the Southern Province, the Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair will be held from January 11 to 13, 2024, at the five-star resort, Cinnamon Bentota. The event is organized by Chinafort Gem & Jewellery Traders Association (CGJTA) with the endorsement of several line Ministries.

The event in addition to attracting gem buyers from all over the world has also attracted several billionaires from China who will visit the exhibition, disclosed one of the chief organizers of the event, CGJTA Vice Chairman Rizwan Nayeem.

Global buyers have already confirmed participation from the USA, Europe, and China, along with Chinese delegates. The event will have over 60 boots showcasing local gems and crafts, he said at a special High Tea event organized for the General Managers at Cinnamon Bentota Beach on December 18. Gem Sri Lanka is poised to capture high-value attention worldwide, showcasing the true, rare, and unique nature of Sri Lanka’s gemstones.

“As Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair is a premier exhibition showcasing Sri Lanka’s diverse gemstones to a global audience, we also decided to join with the tourism sector as we believe both could reap more benefits by joining together. We are happy to note that region’s high end hoteliers have joined with us to provide accommodation and various other services. The event In addition to helping Sri Lanka to achieve its goal of attracting USD one billion from the gem and jewellery exports the event will also help the community in neumours ways.”

The Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair will also offer a platform to introduce young talent to the international market.

“We have collaborated with global gem and jewelry influences to promote Gem Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Tourism, conducting extensive promotions worldwide in partnership with international gem associations in America, Europe, and China,” said Marketing Manager of the event, Infas Iqbal.

In addition to its cultural significance, Gem Sri Lanka aims to contribute to the economic growth of Sri Lanka by tapping into lesser-exposed international markets, attracting increased foreign and local transactions from international buyers. Utilizing various social media platforms, we aim to reach a broader audience and create heightened awareness of Gem Sri Lanka’s treasures and the scenic wonders of Sri Lanka.”

The event is endorsed by key authorities such as the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA), the Export Development Board (EDB), and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

“Cinnamon Bentota Hotel has dedicated a special area to host this event and we have taken great care to make this event a success,” said newly appointed General Manger Cinnamon Bentota, Johan Aschan. There will be no entree fee for visitors.
