Gdansk, which is completely pronounceable, makes the kind of music that feels immediately familiar in the best of ways. With the same kind of slow build and emotional electronic crescendo as Electric Youth or M83, their newest track, “Atlas”, is just begging to be used in an effortlessly cool getaway scene in the next indie action film. The synths swirl around vocals auto-tuned enough that they sound slightly less than human without rendering them completely inert. It’s the kind of music that takes the best cues from the 80s and mixes them with something uniquely now. Their newest release, EP2, is out on November 25th.
