Trailer Review: GoT Season 6

A Potpourri of Vestiges Feature

It is that time of the year. HBO has launched the trailer for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. The Season 6 of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 24, 2016. Clocking at just 1 minute 41 seconds, the trailer is quite neatly packaged, embellished by the delightful Chris Isaak song 'Wicked Game' (performed by James Vincent). Mind it, the trailer comes with 'Mature Content' warning!

Jon Snow dead or alive?

While 101 seconds of content may not satiate most Game of Thrones fans, those of us who dare to watch closely can actually extract a lot out of it. HBO seems really desperate to reassert that Jon Snow is gone. Ok, we got it! Maybe, Kit Harington, who was spotted on the set, will be playing Jon's ghost. Or a White Walker, who knows?

Can anyone identify Bran?

The trailer confirms Bran's return to the GoT universe following a conspicuous absence from season 5. Though, he is nearly unrecognizable. We also get to see Jamie and Cersei together with the former trying to console the latter. Well, can we blame Cersei for feeling so dejected after what the High Sparrow made her go through? And wasn't her daughter poisoned in Dorne? Need I say more?

More of Lannister incent... can we blame them?

The Boltons, having defeated Stannis, seem to have gone from a position of strength to strength. But even their joy is incomplete, for Sansa has escaped with Theon. The trailer also shows Melisandre who seems broken by her false prophecy about Stannis.
We also get a glimpse or two of the Onion Knight. Jorah, still infected by the deadly greyscale, is out in search of his beloved Dany who is apparently captured by a Dothraki tribe. Clock is ticking for both Jorah and Danny! Can Jorah save her one more time?

Who are you trying to seduce now, Lady Melisandre?

In one of the scenes, we get to see High Sparrow deliver a lecture on how the poor can overthrow an empire. Tyrion is seen hiding somewhere talking to someone about the "terrifying great game". What is the little Lannister upto? The resurrected Mountain seems like Cersei's most potent weapon against the Sparrows. Arya is still stuck in the House of Black and White. Let's hope someone gets her out of there very soon!

What is Queen Margaery doing with High Sparrow?

Although, the second half of the trailer offers only tidbits of information with fast cutaways, we do get to see a lot of familiar faces (other than the lifeless ones kept at the House of Black and White) including those of Little Finger, Theon, Brienne, Tormund Gianstbane, and possibly a young Ned Stark (GoT fans better get ready from some much awaited flashbacks from the times of the Mad King). If you aren't satisfied yet, you better check out the trailer! One thing is certain: come April 24, all hell is going to break loose!
