Gallup polled on nine key issues from national defense to the federal budget deficit and Barack Obama's approval ratings on those issues is dismal at best.
Obama managed to receive majority approval for just one out of the nine,  the majority of respondents disapprove of his handling of five out of the nine, and a plurality disapprove of Obama's performance on three out of nine.

Obama will once again claim to making jobs and the economy his "focus" in the State of the Union address tonight, but those are promises he has made in every SOTU address to date, so it will be interesting to see what type of short term "bounce" he will get in the polls following his speech.
More on the speech and the followup by Congressman Stockman who is live tweeting the event with the hash tag #youlie, Marco Rubio who will deliver the Republican's official response to the SOTU and Rand Paul who will be delivering the Tea Party response, found here on a previous WuA piece.
