Gala Film seems to be working on documentary film projects with both stars, but they deleted a tweet that helped a big token rise.
Gala Games, a Web3 entertainment company, is getting a lot of attention this week because it tweeted about upcoming film projects with actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg. At the same time, the value of its GALA token went up by a lot. Since the tweet has been deleted, the cryptocurrency is giving up some of the gains it made before.
Data from CoinGecko shows that GALA has lost more than 14% of its value in the last 24 hours, dropping to a price of about $0.037 per token. Even so, the price of GALA has gone up 115% in the last week, making it worth more than twice as much as it was.
GALA isn’t the only gaming or metaverse token to have gone up in value this week, but its big rise seemed to be at least partly due to a Gala Games tweet about its “ongoing cooperation” with Johnson and Wahlberg, which was based on a Gala Film-related Discord thread.
On Monday, Gala Games deleted the tweet, making people on Twitter and Discord wonder if it was real.
Gala Film and Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions said in November that they would work together to make Steven Cantor’s feature-length documentary “Four Down,” with Johnson as the executive producer. Gala Film said that it will pay for the documentary and distribute it through its platform. It will also post information about what goes on behind the scenes.

After the news about the dispute came out this morning, Gala tweeted about its “relationship with Mark Wahlberg’s Unrealistic Ideas” and linked to a YouTube recording of a November 2022 Gala Games Livestream.
Archie Gips, president, and partner of Unrealistic Ideas, was on this Gala webcast. He said that the company is working on a documentary film that might be called “Caught Stealing.” The movie is about a Pony League baseball team in 1963 that did well enough to get some players picked up by the MLB draft, even though their coach was robbing banks the whole time.
“Out of respect to our partners at Seven Bucks (Dwayne Johnson) and Unrealistic Ideas (Mark Wahlberg), we removed a tweet that was a bit overzealous,” a Gala Games Discord administrator said Wednesday morning.
The first tweet from Gala Games and the screenshot from Discord that was linked to it did not say that the film projects were documentaries or that the documentaries were about something other than stars. This may have made each of the top-earning actors question Gala’s goals with them.
Some of the dramatic rise in the price of the GALA token this week seems to have happened before the now-deleted tweet. This could be because of other recent news, like Gala Games’ plans to expand into mobile Web3 gaming.
A spokeswoman for the Gala Games said that an official statement would be made “immediately.”
