FXP Fitness Hula Hoop System Review

By Debi Lantzer @debiL1611

Just a few weeks ago, I was contacted about the FXP Fitness Hula Hoop System. When I started to read the email, I thought to myself, "hula, hoop - like what, from 1975?" and then I kept reading.....and reading .......and reading. Suddenly I wanted to know more about this system, so I responded with a very fast "yes please". Shortly thereafter, I received the FXP Fitness Hula Hoop Starter Kit in the mail.

I had planned to take this product with me to a family weekend in Orlando. I took everything out of the box and made sure I had the product and the video packed when we headed out. Unfortunately, because of time constraints, the system never made its way into the living room. Now that I've taken it out and used it and the video, I realize it would have really been a blast with all us girls doing it together. But let me move on.

There are several different options you can get on the FXP Fitness site. While I received the Starter kit, there's also an option for the Build Your Own kit, the Total Body Makeover kit, the Cardio Sculpt kit, and the Total Body Makeover Plus kit.

To describe the FXP Fitness Hula Hoop System for you, I'll start with the Hoop itself - this thing has to be the biggest Hula Hoop I've ever seen in my life! There's no swishy noise when it goes around or cheap plastic feeling flimsy hoop going on here. This is a solid piece of fitness equipment. As you can see by the quickie little video I put together from the photos, the hoop comes in pieces that you easily snap together and take apart. It comes with a carry bag so you can pack it up and take it with you. There's also an included video which also fits in the zipped up bag - a really nice perk.

And now the FXP Fitness Hula Hoop System DVD: It's a "Fit in 15″ workout series and includes three different workouts: Cardio Blast, Lower Body Sculpt and Sculpted Arms and Abs. These workouts are all low impact and you can tell they were inspired by Yoga and Pilates that are high intensity without putting any pressure on joints and bones. It's great for all fitness levels and you can burn over 800 calories per hour! As a runner, I know that running one mile burns a little over 100 calories. Doing some quick calculations, that tells me that this Hula Hoop System burns double the calories my running abilities do in an hour! That gives me something to think about there!

For the purposes of this review, I tried a few minutes of each workout on the FXP Fitness Hula Hoop System DVD, and in less than 10 minutes, I was sweating! I know when I return to each workout again, I'll take the time to learn more of the workouts and will actually "feel the burn". There's also a guide that comes with the package. The guide shows some basic "hooping", thigh workouts, glute workouts, cardio lunges and a yoga-inspired stretch segment.

You can check out FXP Fitness on their website, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and tumblr. Even better than just checking out their social media sites, you can download their mobile app on either Android and iOS. The mobile app provides free workout guides and optional premium content while you are away from home.

If you are sitting there shaking your head saying, "I hated the hula hoop when I was a kid" or "I was horrible at the hula hoop," then you need to put those thoughts out of your mind right now. This isn't the same at all - it's better! You are getting a workout at the same time you are having a blast challenging yourself and learning new things. I looked around at the classes being offered and right now there aren't any that are close by my house. I am, however, giving some serious consideration to some kind of future class with this product to learn even more about it. There are also certification classes to become a Hula Hoop trainer! The possibilities are endless.

I received the FXP Fitness starter kit for the purpose of this review, but with no other compensation. All opinions are my own.s
