Fundraising With Rock!

I’m always hunting down new music or seeing what’s going on in the music industry. ( No surprise to the readers of this blog. ) This week I noticed a little charity for Haiti that inclues rock.  Ideas like this are great because the more fun you can include in your fundraising campaign, the more people it will appeal to both to get volunteers and donations. Keep that in mind kiddees.

Music For Relief  was started by members of Linkin Park who wanted to donate to the 2005 tsunami victims. Since then, the band has formed the Music For Relief organization and been very busy!

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Over $3,500,000 in donations
- 810,000 trees planted to sequester more than 270,000 tons of CO2
- Our programs have helped victims of:
- 2004 South Asia Tsunami
- Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Hannah, Ike & Gustav
- Cyclones Nargis in Burma, Sidr, and Aila in Bangladesh
- Wildfires in Southern California & Victoria Australia
- Typhoons Ketsana, Parma, Morakot and Lupit in Southeast Asia
- 2010 Haiti Earthquake
- Zimbabwe Cholera Outbreak
- Tornado in Mena, Arkansas
- China’s Wenchuan Earthquake
- 2009 Earthquakes in the Pacific Islands and Indonesia
- Monsoon Flooding in Pakistan

Linkin Park is joined by other bands like Alanis Morissette, Slash, The Crystal Method, The All American Rejects and more.

You’ve got to check out their website it’s absolutely thick with videos and photos of events the organization has participated in. Music for Relief is currently involved in downloadtodonate.org where for a $10 donation to Haiti you can donwnload free music.

Check out Music for Relief they’re really doing their part for great causes.

I also found this great article on the School of Rock and their cross country tour last year remaking Live Aid.  Proceeds from the ticket sales again went to Haiti. I’m tellin ya man these rock guys are busy giving back. Hmm that gives me another idea to find out what the jazz and fusion people are doing fundraising wise. If anybody knows leave me a comment and lets look into it.
