Frugal Tip: How to Keep Bananas Fresh Longer

By Catherine Mcdiarmid-Watt @frugalfreebies

Cut a small piece of plastic cling wrap, about the size of the palm of your hand.
Wrap the plastic tightly at the top/stem of the bananas.
Then hang up your bananas! Keeps the fruit from bruising and the air circulation allows for even ripening.
Carefully remove and replace the plastic cling wrap each time you get a banana. Enjoy for 3-5 days longer than usual!

Jamie Knox-Wagner posted: Another helpful hint: Take the banana's apart. They last longer not all bunched together!
Emily Kathryn posted: If you place them in the fridge they last longer! The skins will brown quickly but the banana stays perfect for days!!
Evie L. Reid posted: You don't have to re-wrap... just use kitchen shears to cut off a banana under the wrap. Also easier for little hands to peel when you do that.
Donna Beebe Olson posted: Wow, I never knew that. Thanks for the tip!
Alma Vanderlinden posted: If you peel from the other end you don't get the strings either. FYI
