So far I’ve managed to maintain a meditation practice on pretty much most mornings, but as for early morning yoga? Well it has been weeks of trying to haul my ass out of bed at 6am so I could squeeze in at least 20 minutes of yoga… but it just wasn’t happening. But, I think I have finally found a way to work my at-home yoga practice into my day. The solution? I gave up trying to wake up early and decided to do it when I wanted to instead. At the end of a busy day at work, I’ve been on my feet all day rushing around like a crazy lunatic (that’s generally how everyone spends their day where I work) and so all I want to do is change into something comfy and put my legs up the wall for as long as possible. The wonderful thing about this action is that of course I wound up doing more than that and now I have myself a nice at-home practice. Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?
Viparita Karani is a wonderful passive stretch which you can do anytime you have a wall and a place to lay your head. It is especially nice to do before bedtime or if you’ve been standing or sitting for long periods.
