From PUBG Ban to BGMI Unban, This Was the Journey of This Battle Royale Game

September 2020 (PUBG Ban)

November 2020

PUBG game maker Krafton released a teaser in November, announcing the relaunch of the game with a new name, PUBG Battlegrounds. The game was said to be launched in Diwali of 2020. After this, for the next few months, many reports of the re-launch of this Battle Royale game were revealed.

May 2021 (BGMI)

On 6 May 2021, Krafton announced the new name of PUBG Battlegrounds as BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India). The pre-registration for this game started on 18 May 2021. After this, Early Access of BGMI was released on 17 June 2021. This game was initially made available only for Android users.

July 2021 (BGMI Launch)

Seeing the response the game is getting in pre-registration, Krafton launched this game in India on 2 July 2022. With the launch of the game, it touched the figure of 10 million downloads in the next few days. However, iOS users were still waiting for this battle royale game.

August 2021

The iOS version of BGMI was launched on August 18, just a month after the launch of the Android version. After this, PUBG Mobile users started participating in the events of this game and soon this game started challenging other battle royale games.

July 2022

BGMI was taken down from Google Play Store and Apple Play Store on 28 July 2022 in violation of IT Act 69A. After the game was banned, once again the fans of this battle royale game were disappointed.
