We previously featured author Sandra Ahlquist who wrote Kids Speech Matters – A Mother’s Journey Living With Her Son Who Has A Severe Language and Auditory Processing Disorder, From Birth to 10 Yearsa personal story about raising a child with severe language disorder and/or Auditory Processing Disorder.

Last week Sandra launched a children’s online platform called ‘Empowering Kids and Communities.com.au’ to attract community partners to raise $50,000 to get the platform started.

The website will “offer free downloadable information, e-books, alternative learning programs, aids to assist with homework, inspiring videos from sports mentors, social media feeds, as well as sports clinics for kids with pilot footy clinics starting in 2014.”

The website will be designed to assist parents, teachers, carers and children. It will cover four main areas:

1. Supporting learning disabilities and gifted children: Learning Abilities Network
2. Creative learning/education: Smart Kids Learning Differently
3. Health and Nutrition: Healthy Switched On Kids
4. Sports and Arts: Inspirational Kids

Sandra’s hope is to help other children falling through the cracks. She is now looking for community partners to raise $50,000.
