Friday’s Fab Find: John’s Crazy Socks

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

I will never forget one of my worst Christmases with my mother. Despite being solidly middle class (her husband at the time, her fifth, made an excellent living) literally every gift she gave me was 'practical' underwear, jeans, and a 6 pack of socks.

When Mother's Day rolled around that year I gave her a box of laundry detergent.

It is bitterly ironic that now socks are one of my favorite gifts to give or receive. Now, I'm not talking the super practical everyday socks. I'm talking FUN socks! I gave my friend Beth a pair of socks that look like ballet slippers and she asked me to buy her another pair she loved them so much.

And now I've found an amazing place to buy socks that fun creative and downright CRAZY!

John's Crazy Socks

John's Crazy Socks is a father-son venture inspired by co-founder John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down Syndrome. John's affinity for crazy socks paired with his love of making people smile made a clear mission statement: To spread happiness. I actually became familiar with Johns Crazy Socks watching the Phillip Defranco's deep dive on how it's legal for companies to pay disabled people at a significantly lower rate than minimum wage. No joke, some people get paid pennies an hour.
At John's Crazy Socks, people of all abilities work together and everyone is paid equally based on the work they perform. You can visit their site here.

They also created a "Giving Back" program. From the beginning, They have pledged 5 percent of earnings to the Special Olympics and have added a growing list of Charity and Awareness Socks that raise money for charity partners. They even have in person and Skype tours for schools so young entrepreneurs can learn about business and working with the differently-abled

But let's not forget what this is all about; SOCKS! Fun crazy socks. I'm so excited. I can't wait for Christmas this year.
