Friday’s Fab Find: Design Hype

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.- Saint Augustine

Sometimes I feel embarrassed that I've never been to the top of Empire State Building or taken a backstage tour of Radio City Music Hall. I must remind myself that people all over the world pay thousands of dollars to visit things I can walk to everyday. Yes, tourists can be annoying, but they are a huge part of New York's economy. I am always happy to give lost tourist directions and advice (skip the Empire State Building, go to Rockefeller Center's Top of the Rock, it's cheaper, the view's better and the lines are shorter.)

I'm always telling tourists, DO NOT stand on a street corner looking at a subway map. You might as well hold up a giant sign that says "My wallet is in my back pocket, and yes you may have it".

Design Hype

But what do you do when you desperately need to figure out where the heck the subway is? When I was contacted by Design Hype about a possible fab find. You could check out there site here. I wasn't even thinking about any practical applications, I just thought putting subway maps on cuff bracelets was a fun design idea. But it IS a fast, easy way to keep a New York/Paris/London subway maps right at your fingertips. So the fact that the jewelry is elegant and cuff bracelets are on trend right now is just a fun bonus.

For places that don't have as comprehensive public transit like New York or London the cuffs feature street maps. Mostly silver, but some cuffs come in gold and the Portland Oregon style comes in leather! They also have necklaces with pendants shaped like iconic landmarks from around the world.
