There have few things in this world that can have a more dramatic impact on shaping a young girl life than having access to a good education. For grown women around the world, what they need more than anything is a job; a means to support herself, her family and her community.
And if you can get a gorgeous and stylish bag out of it everyone wins!
The Catrinka Project
The Catrinka Project is a socially responsible accessories line founded by Megan Reilly Cayten, Amisha Patel and Sumana Setty and named for Megan's daughter.
The collection's bags are made with locally sourced materials, by socially responsible artisan groups that are woman-owned, woman-managed, or that predominantly employ women. 100% of proceeds from the sale of each bag will be invested in educating girls in the countries where the bags were made: Afghanistan, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Nepal, Peru, Sierra Leone and Uganda.
The motto is simple and beautiful : Buy a bag, employ a woman and educate a girl, it's that easy.
