Friday Nights at Opus

By Thefoodiecoupleblog

We’ve always enjoyed the food at Opus restaurants and indeed it’s sibling Bar opus, and I really enjoy going in the summer time for their lobster special and the good value of their market menu.

Well now Opus have launched a special offer on Friday evenings – #FridaysatOpus, where you can now enjoy 2 courses from their market menu, alongside freshly cooked bread and half a bottle of wine for just £25 per person.

Opus always celebrate garden fresh and sustainable produce from around the UK, including Worcester Produce, Carroll’s Heritage Potatoes, M&J Seafood, Brixham Seafish and award winning butchers Aubrey Allen.

I was invited, along with a few other foodie fanatic bloggers, to try out the menu last week. After a drink and nibble on some sticky sweet chorizo and lightly spiced pakoras, we had a chat to the head chef in the kitchen before service got underway and he told us a bit more about their produce, set up and ethos.

I loved that the menu really reflected where we are in the season, with an abundance of spring produce like radishes, British asparagus, jersey royals and in season fish. There’s good options for vegetarians too.

I decided on the Whipped Rosary Goats Cheese, Heritage Tomato & English Radish Salad with a Grape Dressing to start. I loved the freshness of this dish, the quality of the individual items shone through and everything was prepared simply to make it shine.

For my main I chose the Fillet of Day Boat Market Fish (which was cod) with a fricassee of Asparagus, Potato and Wild Garlic. Needless to say another simple seasonal dish executed extremely well. The Pork Cutlet with Wholegrain Mustard Mash and Caramelised Apples also looked really tasty.

If you’re more sweet than savoury then you can choose to skip the starter and have a dessert instead, like this Caramel and Peanut Delice.

For me Opus always represents fresh seasonal and local produce, classically cooked in a calm relaxing atmosphere. This Friday night offer represents good value for money for the quality that you get and as long as this continues they will continue to get my custom!

Disclosure: At this event our food and drink was free, but as you can see form the blog I’ve visited before and paid on several occasions too. All thoughts and opinions as always honest and my own.
