Exciting times in Old Compton Street! The site of the old 2i's Coffee Bar – the very birthplace of British Rock'n'Roll – is, as I blog this, in the process of being turned into a West End branch of that East End classic Poppies Fish & Chip Shop!
I was particularly thrilled to see this addition to the work…

When you join me on the Rock'n'Roll London Walk on a Friday we always swing by this historic site to discuss Skiffle - the down-home, rudimentary music that is the dancing homo erectus to the mop-topped homo sapien of the Merseybeat/British Invasion period.
