Fratini's Restaurant | Pasta & Pizza

Come stai? Yeah, we’re talking Italian now because what I will feature here today is the first branch of Fratini’s Restaurant, the Authentic Italian Restaurant. Fratini’s was established in 1996 in Brunei and is one of the famous Italian restaurants there. They opened their first and only branch here in the Philippines October last year – they’re pretty new – inside SM Jazz, Makati City.
I’ve always noticed Fratini’s every time I’m in Jazz (hey, it’s just at the back of our school!) but didn’t dare try it only because I haven’t heard of the brand yet. Until I was invited to do a food review by BurpManila. Curious as I was, I agreed!   Big, clean, cozy and a very nice lighting that’s how I describe Fratini’s. Modern interior and comfortable seats are everywhere inside the restaurants. The staffs are really friendly and approachable. Do they speak Italian? I have no idea. Moving on to their foods..

Sicilian & Mixed Vegetables Salad

The salads were nicely prepared and presented. One serving is kinda big so I think at least 3-5 person can share. I didn’t get the chance to try mixed vegetables salad, but the Sicilian is definitely must-try! I think it’s the chef’s original or something. The Mixed Vegetables Salads look like a pakbet to me, though, while the Sicilian is more on the sweet side with its fruits, vegetables, and chicken combined.

Linguine Al Frutti Di Mare , P475
Special flat pasta served with assorted mixed seafood, garlic, chili, fresh herbs and tomato sauce or fish bouillion

Ravioli ai Gamberoni , P425
Home-made pasta fillied with minced prawn meat and cream cheese, tossed with squid, olives and parsley sauce

Fettucine Carbonara , P385
Italian noodles tossed in creamy sauce, Parmesan cheese, egg yolk and beef rashes or chicken breast

Among the pastas they served, my favorite is the Ravioli ai Gamberoni. It’s green yes, but wait till you taste it because the cream cheese and parsley sauce did complement each other rather well.  And the pasta filled with prawn meat is just a bonus! I will definitely come back for this.
The Linguine Al Frutti Di Mare is also good however the tomato sauce overpowers the flavor; I love seafoods, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that I am not a fan of tomato. The Carbonara on the other hand is just the typical one, nothing special about their flavor.
I am not quite sure, but as far as I can remember, these next three dishes were included on Fratini’s extended menu.

Seafood Special pan Fried Red Snapper Pink Salmon , P1,455
Tiger Prawns with Lemon and Butter Sauce

Mix Grilled Meat , P1,455
Back of lamb, beef tenderloin, chicken breast filled with pepper sauce

Braised Lamb Shank , P1,115
In Rosemary Mint Sauce

Those lamb meats are to die for! They’re very tender and juicy! You can taste the flavor in the meat which is really nice! Now I know why lamb meats are famous. I have tried some before, but nothing compares with Fratini’s. The Red Snapper is okay too – yeah, that’s all I can say about that prawn and salmon.
Now, on to the dolci and refreshments of Fratini’s. I love any desserts and smoothies and Fratini’s do have a very nice one. My top pick is the chocolate pudding and the oreo banana smoothie. You should try those two!

Tiramisu Tradizionale , P205

Panna Cotta Di Fragole , P125

Classico del Pudding di Choco / Chocolate Pudding , 175

What makes Fratini’s extra fun is that you can make your own pizza! Yes, you are the one who will knead the dough, put a sauce, cheese, and whatever toppings you want! This is actually best for kids who tend to get so picky when it comes to pizza toppings. Yes, even an adult can make their own pizza because we did! Just look at our pizza! What we did was a 21 inches or so pizza. There were 4 groups, meaning 4 big pizzas to eat! Anyway, we put all the ingredients on our pizza, a massive cheese, and lots of tomato sauce too. The other groups made their pizza with white sauce; some did half of red and white sauce. It was really fun!
Fratini’s founder is a Muslim, that’s why they don’t serve pork. Also, if you have any allergy to a certain ingredient, you can tell them to remove that ingredient on your order and they will give you options on what alternative they can put instead – which is really nice.
Now, I think you have enough reason to dine at Fratini’s.
