The Homagama Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered to remand four suspects including a Director of the Co-operative Insurance Company arrested in connection with the shooting and injuring of the new Chairman of the Co-operative Insurance Company Dharshana Samarawickrama.
On Monday Homagama Magistrate’s Court granted permission to the Police to detain the four suspects and question them.
The Meegoda Police produced in court a Director of the Co-operative Insurance Company, the suspected shooter who is an ex-serviceman, his assistant and a private bus owner who allegedly took the contract to kill the new Chairman of the Co-operative Insurance Company.
The shooting took place while Samarawickrama was on his way to assume duties as Co-operative Insurance Corporation Chairman at around 7.35am last Monday (5). Two people who came on a motorcycle had shot him.
