- According to Mexico’s Solar Energy Association, the market value of this sector is US$ 150 million.
- In terms of radiation intensity, Mexico has an annual average of 5.8 kilowatt hours per square meter (kWh/㎡), while Germany, the leading nation in photovoltaic energy production, has 3.2 kWh/㎡.
- By the end of 2012, the use of solar panels to produce electricity in Mexico will reach a capacity of 10 MW.
- The transport sector is the largest energy consumer, responsible for 49% of the total energy consumption in Mexico. Fiscal incentives to promote the buying of hybrid vehicles are already in place; and additional fiscal credit proposals are under discussion to stimulate the wider use of electric cars.
